Redmi Note 7 Pro with 48-megapixel Sony IMX586 sensor said to be launching next month

“Redmi Note 7 Pro will have a 48-megapixel Sony IMX 586 sensor and will be launched after February 5th”

Redmi Note 7, the company’s first phone after it became a standalone brand will reportedly be getting a sibling, Redmi Note 7 Pro, as early as next month. And like Redmi Note 7, the Pro model will feature a 48-megapixel rear camera – however, the handset is said to sport a Sony sensor instead of a Samsung one. Redmi executives reportedly made the statements around the Redmi Note 7 Pro launch plans at the event where the Redmi Note 7 was launched.

According to GizmoChina, Redmi plans to launch the Redmi Note 7 Pro smartphone in February, after the Spring Festival (February 5th). The smartphone will have the Sony IMX 586 sensor that can capture images of 48-megapixel resolution. On the other hand, the Samsung GM1 sensor “can only do 12-megapixel but interpolates to 48-megapixel.”

In fact, the Xiaomi wanted to use the Sony sensor on the Redmi Note 7 as well, but had to go for the Samsung sensor due to supply chain constraints. But it seems those issues will be sorted over the next month and we can expect a better photography experience with the upcoming Redmi Note 7 Pro.

Redmi Note 7

Apart from the camera sensor, Redmi Note 7 Pro is also expected to feature a more powerful processor compared to the octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 660 on the Redmi Note 7. However the design, display, and battery specifications can be expected to be the same as that of its sibling. An image shared by GizmoChina shows the smartphone will look pretty similar to its non-Pro counterpart, down to the waterdrop notch and will sport dual rear cameras with a LED flash unit below. Redmi has not said anything about its release in other markets but considering their popularity in India, Redmi Note 7 Pro will most likely make it here soon.
