Apple just done with a spree of hardware launches, with the next big devices – the 2019 iPhones – not expected till September. Now, Japanese blog Macotakara has shared some information about the upcoming iPhone models, claiming the Apple smartphones will arrive with reverse wireless charging. The site also states that the forthcoming iPhones might ship with a new charging cable and support 18W charging.
The reverse wireless charging feature is not really new as Huawei and Samsung have used it on their respective handsets in the past, namely the Mate 20 and Galaxy S10 series. The new report claims the reverse wireless charging feature will be available on all 2019 iPhone models and will be used to charge products such as Apple Watch and the new AirPods.
This is not the first time word of reverse wireless charging on iPhones has made its way to the rumour mill. Days before Samsung debuted its Galaxy S10 series, TF International Securities Ming-Chi Kuo said the feature will be making its debut in 2019. Kuo also said this year’s iPhone models will retain the same screen sizes as the iPhone XS and iPhone XR. At the time, he also claimed the new wireless charging feature would allow users to charge other devices wirelessly using their iPhones.
According to the rumour mill, this year’s iPhones will also feature an in-display fingerprint sensor, frosted glass casing, and perhaps even a Type C port. Triple rear cameras on the iPhone XS and iPhone XS Max successors are also rumoured, while the follow-up to the iPhone XR is tipped to feature dual cameras on the back. Apple will reportedly stick to the same prices as 2018 for the models
