WhatsApp Will Stop Working on These Phones and Platforms From 2020

WhatsApp Inc., the Facebook-owned company behind the eponymous direct messaging app, will stop supporting iOS 7 (and older versions) from February 1, 2020. While Android users are relatively safe for now, people stuck on Android 2.3.7 Gingerbread (and older versions) will also lose support from February 2020, as announced earlier. Of course, if you’re still using Android Gingerbread in 2020, you probably have more things to worry about than WhatsApp messages. While the aforementioned versions of iOS and Android will still be compatible with the app for the next year and a half, the app-maker says that some of the  features of WhatsApp  may stop working any time, as it isn’t actively developing for these platforms any more. Meanwhile, if you’re still using Nokia S40 for some reason, you are basically living on borrowed time, as the platform is slated to lose support on December 31, 2018. According to a post on the official WhatsApp support site, the following platforms are depre

Government Plans to Create AI-Based Multilingual Bot for Umang App

The Indian IT Ministry aims to develop an AI-powered voice bot similar to Siri and Cortana for the  Umang  e-governance app. The officials seek to expand the reach of Umang’s services beyond the urban populace and aim to extend its benefits to a wider base of users who live in rural areas via the app’s voice capabilities and regional language support. The IT Ministry’s National e-Governance Division (NeGD) is set to meet technology vendors on October 4th to discuss the idea of creating the AI assistant which can converse in regional languages and help people easily avail services such as utility bill payment, filing income tax, checking fund details and a lot more. An agenda of the session scheduled for October 4 states that voice-based interactions enhance the user experience and also amplify an app’s usability and reach, which is something NeGD has on its mind. The government officials want to leverage the multilingual voice capabilities to increase the Umang app’s user base

How to Disable Ads in MIUI Apps (Guide)

Xiaomi’s MIUI custom ROM is one of the most popular among smartphone users, which is in part be due to its extensive presence in the budget segment. The company is also well-known for its  honest pricing , however, it has seemingly been made possible not because of hardware trade-offs but due to its intrusive ad placement. If you have ever used a  MIUI-powered  device, then you would know that Xiaomi marks prices lower and earns profits through software tie-ups (unwelcome bloatware) or ads in the system apps such as Mi Music, MIUI Security app, and most recently  even the Settings . OnePlus Crackables: Challenging and Cryptic Puzzles with a Massive Prize

OnePlus  announced Crackables  last week, hinting at things that sounded a lot like hacking, and today, the  game is finally here  and will be available to play for anyone who wants to try their hands at it from tomorrow. We’ve been through the Crackables experience, and after spending the better part of the morning trying to solve the various puzzles, here’s my experience playing Crackables, and why I’d recommend this to anyone looking for a good challenging mental-activity. Crackables will follow an eSports tournament model in which the first 1,000 players to ace the first 3 challenges will be eligible to play the next levels. All those who qualify through the levels stand a chance to win the grand prize, which is  ‘an ultimate gaming setup’  worth $30,000. The game kicks off with what looks like a  humanoid AI telling the player about its captivity inside the “Cube”  (Fortnite reference? Probably not, but hey!). The AI, its name turns out to be Crax, then begins to ask the pla

Here’s Why the iPhone XR Has Been Delayed Till October

The  iPhone XR  is the cheapest and also the most compelling device in Apple’s new smartphone line-up, but unlike the  iPhone XS  and the  iPhone XS Max  which have already gone up for pre-order, the iPhone XR’s availability has been pushed to October. According to a report, the delay in the iPhone XR’s availability has been caused due to software optimization issues for the iPhone XR’s LCD panel and some production issues as well. Ryan Reith, VP of Mobile Devices Research at IDC, recently told  TheVerge   that software issues are  the main reason behind the delay, because the sub-par quality of the LCD panels forced Apple to implement some software tools  in order to improve the panel’s visual output. “Everything we’ve been hearing, it’s been an issue on the software side. There’s a lot of software involved with the LCD screen, as it’s the first [LCD display] with a notch and full screen” , Reith was quoted as saying. The IDC executive added that the quality of the LCD panels
