Xiaomi Quietly Launches Redmi Note 6 Pro With Quad-Cameras, Notch

After numerous leaks and rumors over the past week, Xiaomi has now quietly made its latest mid-range offering – the Redmi Note 6 Pro – official in Thailand. This device is the successor to the popular Redmi Note 5 Pro,  which sold millions of units in India  and has brought along a larger display with a notch, quad-cameras and a ton of AI features. Price and Availability Xiaomi launched the Redmi Note 6 Pro only in Thailand on Thursday, September 27, via their  Community Forum  and  Facebook . The device has been unveiled one configuration, with 4GB of RAM and 64GB of internal storage but there could very well be many other configurations globally. The device has  gone on sale in Thailand  for 6,990 baht (approx Rs 15,999) and some users have already received their unit. As far as fitness bands go, Xiaomi’s line up of Mi Bands has been one of the best selling in the world. Xiaomi Starts Rolling Out MIUI 10 for Redmi Note 5 in India

Earlier this month, Xiaomi  started rolling out  the MIUI 10 global stable ROM to a number of devices around the world. Just a couple of days ago, the company announced the rollout of its latest software update for its most popular device – the Redmi Note 5 Pro – in the country and now it has started rolling out the update for the Redmi Note 5 as well. Samsung Galaxy Watch Arrives in India, Starts at Rs 24,990

A month after the  Galaxy Note 9 launch in India, Samsung has also brought the  Galaxy Watch  to the Indian market. The Galaxy Watch will be available in two variants, a 46mm version priced at Rs 29,990 and the 42mm version at Rs 24,990. The device would go on sale from next month and will be sold in silver, black and rose gold variants. With a trademark circular design, and rotating touch-sensitive bezels for navigation and selection, the Galaxy Watch also sports analog watch hands and hourly chimes to give it the look of a conventional wristwatch. You can even have it tick whenever you turn on the watchface. WhatsApp Will Stop Working on These Phones and Platforms From 2020

WhatsApp Inc., the Facebook-owned company behind the eponymous direct messaging app, will stop supporting iOS 7 (and older versions) from February 1, 2020. While Android users are relatively safe for now, people stuck on Android 2.3.7 Gingerbread (and older versions) will also lose support from February 2020, as announced earlier. Truecaller App Could Be Coming Soon To JioPhone

The JioPhone has given millions of citizens in India an affordable means to communicate and access the Internet. It’s a smart feature phone and the ecosystem of apps has been expanding steadily with the release of popular apps like  WhatsApp , Facebook, and  just recently  YouTube. The latest addition to this roster could be well-known caller ID and dialer app Truecaller. JioPhone ( or more specifically KaiOS ) could join Android, iOS and the web as a source for new users and crowd-sourced data for the company. Manan Shah, Truecaller’s Marketing Director, told Beebom that  the Swedish company is in early discussions with Reliance Jio to port the app to JioPhone and JioPhone 2,  and it could be well on its way over the coming months. Samsung has today announced the Galaxy A7 , the company’s first smartphone to feature a triple rear camera set-up. The Galaxy A7 flaunts a dual glass design with a side mounted fingerprint sensor and comes with features such as Bixby, Samsung Pay, Samsung Health and Dolby Atmos audio among others. The Galaxy A7 packs a  6-inch Super AMOLED Infinity display  and is powered by an octa-core processor clocked at 2.0GHz. Government Plans to Create AI-Based Multilingual Bot for Umang App

The Indian IT Ministry aims to develop an AI-powered voice bot similar to Siri and Cortana for the  Umang  e-governance app. The officials seek to expand the reach of Umang’s services beyond the urban populace and aim to extend its benefits to a wider base of users who live in rural areas via the app’s voice capabilities and regional language support. The IT Ministry’s National e-Governance Division (NeGD) is set to meet technology vendors on October 4th to discuss the idea of creating the AI assistant which can converse in regional languages and help people easily avail services such as utility bill payment, filing income tax, checking fund details and a lot more. An agenda of the session scheduled for October 4 states that voice-based interactions enhance the user experience and also amplify an app’s usability and reach, which is something NeGD has on its mind.
