huawei nova 4 with punch-hole display, kirin 970, triple cameras launched

Samsung Galaxy A8s may have been thefirst smartphone to feature a punch-hole selfie camera, however, Huawei is not sitting ducks and has today launched the much-awaited Nova 4 in China. The Huawei Nova 4 is the second smartphone to include a punch-hole camera display, coupled with a flagship processor, triple cameras, and a lot more.

Price and Availability

The Huawei Nova 4 features only a single RAM and storage configuration (8GB+128GB), but different primary camera lenses. Thus, the low-end variant with a 20MP primary lens has been priced at 3,099 yuan (roughly Rs 32,250) and the high-end 48MP variant would retail at 3,399 yuan (roughly Rs 35,400).

The Huawei Nova 4 will be available in three gradient color variants, i.e Black, Blue, and White. The fourth red color, i.e Nova Star, will make its debut in Spring 2018.

Huawei Nova 4: Specs

Right off the bat, I know you can see that Huawei Nova 4 looks like a P20 Pro-clonefrom the rear end with its triple camera array, fingerprint sensor placement, and the gradients. However, it is when you turn to the front, you will notice the main difference between the two.

Huawei Nova 4 sports a 6.4-inch Full-HD+ IPS LCD screen, with a display resolution of 2310×1080 pixels and 91.8 percent screen-to-body ratio. There’s no notch here instead, the smartphone includes a punch-hole for the selfie camera on the top left. The minimal top bezel here packs the earpiece, an ambient light sensor, and a triple-LED indicator for your notifications.

The Nova 4 is powered by last year’s Kirin 970 processor, which is the same as its predecessor instead of its new Kirin 980 SoC that’s based on the 7nm node architecture. The chipset is also backed by an NPU engine, offering you tons of AI features in the UX, camera, and more. This is coupled with 8GB of RAM and 128GB of onboard storage.

Coming to the cameras, Huawei Nova 4 includes a triple-camera setup on the rear, packing a primary 20MP (f/1.8) sensor, a 2MP (f/2.4) depth sensor, and a 16MP (f/2.2) super wide-angle camera. However, this is just one of the two configurations and a high-end variant of the Nova 4 swaps the 20MP primary lens for a 48MP (f/1.8) super-wide angle lens. It’s the first phone with a 48MP sensor.

Speaking of the in-display selfie camera, Huawei on stage boasted that it has developed the industry’s smallest front camera module via the MOC process. It is a 25-megapixel (f/2.0) sensor and is just 3.05mm diameter in size, which is great. You’ll also find various AI beauty, portrait, night, HDR, time-lapse, AR and several other modes on this device.

Xiaomi could launch Mi MIX 3 5G on February 24th, ahead of MWC 2019

“While the Mi MIX 3 is pretty much certain to have a new 5G variant, the launch date remains debatable as of now.” Xiaomi is reportedly setting up to launch its first  5G-compliant smartphone , based on the Mi MIX 3, on February 24th. Word pertaining to the launch was shared on Twitter by user Ben Geskin, who is known to have tipped quite a few product launches in the past. However, the tweet has since been deleted, although the infographic that was shared has now been reuploaded online. To affirm, there is literally nothing in the invite that seems to suggest that the Mi MIX 3 5G will be launched on February 24th. It only reads ‘we make it happen’, along with Xiaomi’s company logo. While this indeed points at an impending launch from Xiaomi’s stable, it can also allude to other devices as well — for instance, the flagship Mi 9. That said, there is a fair amount of chance that the  Mi MIX 3 5G  will be launched at the Mobile W...
