“The Huawei handset will come with a bendable screen, HiSilicon Kirin 980 SoC, and next-gen 5G cellular connectivity”
Out of the several ground-breaking things you’re likely to see in 2019 smartphone, one will be the foldable screen. As the name suggests, you’ll be able to bend or expand the screen depending on how you want to use it – like a smartphone or a tablet. Samsung already has such a device ready and is expected to be launch at an event on February 20th. While we wait for the official confirmation, its arch-rival Huawei has confirmed to launch its own foldable smartphone on February 24th.

The handset will make the debut right before the world’s biggest tech trade show MWC 2019 kicks in Barcelona on February 25th. The Huawei’s invite for the launch also teases the foldable screen of the handset. The V-shape silhouette suggests the phone bent outwards from the middle, which is unlike to the Samsung offering that folds inwards.
Interestingly, the design is in line with the 3D renders of the phone that were shared earlier today. The images reveal the Huawei’s foldable smartphone with a near edge-to-edge screen with a punch-hole that houses selfie camera. The back frame of the device seems to feature hinges at the middle that would allow you to fold screen into two halves. It’a worth mentioning that the images are based on the leaks and rumours, so take the renders with a pinch of salt.
Coming to the specifications, Huawei has previously confirmed that its first foldable smartphone will have 5G network support. The device will be driven by its in-house 7nm HiSilicon Kirin 980 chipset paired with Blong 5000 5G modem. Speculations are the handset could flaunt an impressive 8-inch display for tablet mode and 5-inch for the smartphone. That’s all we know so far
